Here I am
Here I Am - A Living Art Project
Here I am is a reflection project for the High Holidays. The time leading up to Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and the days between—the Days of Awe—is an introspective time, designed to make us as Jews take stock of the past year, our behavior, how we have turned away from God, and from the people around us. It is a journey inward.
Here I Am is one last chance at this process. During a journaling session, you are invited to reflect on the past year, with prompts guiding you towards both increased self-awareness and self-forgiveness. Immediately after, we’ll take a portrait photo of you—a snapshot of you on the meditative journey. Here you are, in a moment of returning and awareness. We’ll display the photos at Temple Beth Israel as a reminder that though it is lonely, we are in it together.
Here I Am will take place at Temple Beth Israel at 5pm on Erev Rosh HaShanah (Monday, September 6th), and at 5pm before Kol Nidrei (Wednesday, September 15th). You can take part digitally as well at www.HereIAm.one
