Tisha B'Av Observance and Learning

Tisha B'Av reminds us of the many types of national loss experienced by the Jewish people from Biblical times to the present age. To commemorate these times and understand their meaning provides us with the strength and courage to go forward as Jews and human beings in search of better days, justice and peace.

Our evening will include teachings, evening and Havdalah services, candle lighting commemoration and a creative chanting of the traditional Book of Lamentation ( "Aychah") by our clergy and congregants.

We will serve a symbolic " Third meal" just before Shabbat ends since we fast on Tisha B'Av. You can bring yarhzeit candles for use during the observance. Many people traditional sit on the floor or low benches - we will  provide meditation chairs.

This event is free of charge.
The meal is sponsored by Michele DeRosa and Mark Strunin.
