WHAT ARE WE SAYING WHEN WE’RE PRAYING?
What is Jewish prayer anyway?
How do we do it and what’s it “for?”
Beginning Saturday, June 4, TBI will offer an incredible “double barreled” learning opportunity - attend one or both components most Saturdays -
about the wonders of Jewish prayer.
Reading The Jewish Prayerbook in Hebrew
Mark Strunin, Instructor
Jewish educator and TBI member Mark Strunin will be your guide to Reading The Jewish Prayerbook in Hebrew. This class is designed to build your Hebrew prayer vocabulary so that over time you’ll be able to comprehend the meaning and experience the rhythm and poetry of the Hebrew liturgy. Learn how many Hebrew words are related through a “root” that conveys a basic meaning like “holiness” or “blessing”. Imagine your satisfaction at being able to “decode” a prayer you’ve never seen before!
Ability to phonetically read some Hebrew will help, but anyone - including those with no Hebrew reading background- is welcomed. Coffee will be available for early arrivals at 8:45 AM. First three classes are June 4, June 11 and June 18. Monthly schedule will be set based on class member and instructor availability.
