A Jewish Pre-K and Kindergarten Sunday School
Our youngest students explore Jewish life through all five senses, learning through stories, music, crafts, cooking, and Shabbat and holiday rituals. Each day of learning includes learning time in intimate peer groups and play with the whole Mechina community. Students bring home usable and delicious projects from their joyful mornings of Jewish learning.
Open to pre-K and kindergarten students
Through stories, crafts, rituals and recipes of Shabbat and holidays, students become proficient in Jewish holidays and alef-bet, with review tools they can use at home between lessons. Games, art, song, stretches, and writing exercises help familiarize them with Hebrew vocabulary and the sounds of Hebrew letters, in preparation for reading. Students practice Hebrew letter recognition with flashcards and other DIY tools. They recite Shema, Modeh Ani, and blessings for food, over the course of the year; they participate in field trips, and they help lead Shabbat services.
All students who are of the required age by the first scheduled class and who are Family Sustaining members in good standing of TBI are eligible. Not a member yet? Join now! Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis, so sign up early!
