Temple Beth Israel of Highland Park and Eagle Rock
President's Greeting

Greetings to all who see this on the Internet, wherever you may be. If you live in the Los Angeles communities of Eagle Rock, Highland Park, South Pasadena, Mount Washington, Echo Park, or Silver Lake, we hope you will consider making us your synagogue home. We are a small, warm, participatory independent neighborhood Jewish congregation. Our roots are in the Conservative movement. If you want to learn about and participate in every detail of Jewish services and synagogue life, our style of "hands-on Judaism" might be for you. If you think you might be interested, we warmly invite you to join us for services some Saturday, or holiday and stay for kiddush and to get to know us. If you have children, please review our Education page — our education offerings are growing all the time.

Women participate equally in all aspects of synagogue life. Interfaith couples are specifically invited. Interested non-Jews do not frighten us; nor do same-sex couples. If you are a Jew by choice, you will not be alone here. No matter what your level of knowledge or your personal situation, we invite you to come pray with us.

You can leave a message at the temple phone, (323) 255-5416, and someone will (eventually) get back to you.

A thousand thanks to long-time congregant Ed Leibowitz for his wonderful “Finding Sanctuary” story in the September, 2008 edition of Los Angeles Magazine. He describes us well and very much from the inside.
