    Torah on the Trail

    Eaton Canyon Hike

    Join TBI for Shabbat morning hike to Eaton Canyon. Afterwards, join us at TBI for the Torah service and pot luck kiddish lunch.
    SATURDAY, July 29th
    7:45am-10:30am

    MEETING POINT:Eaton Canyon Park & Nature Center
    (Innermost part of Parking Lot – next to the gate & wooden sign)

    MEETING TIME: 7:45am
    (We’ll wait about 15 mins at the meeting time and get started at 8:00 am from the trailhead)
    Return Approx: 10:30 am

    HIKE LEVEL: Easier level with some basic experience with a couple of rocky trail sections
    HIKE DURATION: 2.5 Hours (approx)
    HIKE LENGTH: 4.5 Miles (Round trip)
    MEETING POINT:Eaton Canyon Park & Nature Center
    (Innermost part of Parking Lot – next to the gate & wooden sign)
    Entrance Gate Note:If entrance gate is not open by 8:00 am, you can simply wait for the gates to be opened by the park, or find street parking and walk in. We recommend you wait, as it usually doesn’t take long for the rangers to open the gate.

    RECOMMENDED: Tough/Sport/walking shoes with grip that you don’t mind getting wet, sun screen, water, and snacks.
    PLEASE NOTE: Expect water crossings along the way,which we will be crossing by boulder hopping. You may get wet, so wear shoes or river sandals that you don’t mind getting wet. 
    DOG-FRIENDLY?: Yes, but must be on a leash. Must have hiking experience (friendly to dogs and hikers).
    PARKING: Parking is free inside the Eaton Canyon Park and Nature Center area parking lot (and overflow area). Please note that parking can get full quick, so get there earlier to save your car a spot. Should the main parking lot along the nature center fill up, you can go to the overflow parking area and walk over to the meeting area.

    Come together with your TBI community as we discuss the current state of the temple. Hear updates from the board, schedule future events/classes/workshops and most importantly, for the first time in recent history, our membership will be asked to vote on and approve our operating budget for the coming year. Membership will be presented with two versions of a proposed budget to approve. If you would like to preview these documents prior to the meeting please email to: president@tbila.org.

    The Gamble House in Pasadena , CA

    Gamble House Tour

    We are so excited to offer a private tour of the renowned Gamble House in Pasadena.

     

    We will meet at TBI in the morning where transportation will be provided to the Gamble House. There you will be treated to an in-depth tour by an official Gamble House docent; this is a private tour consisting of only the members of our TBI group. At the conclusion of the tour, we will head back to TBI for a specially prepared lunch along with some good, haimish company, and kibbitzing.
    This excursion is limited to 5 people and reservations will only be honored for the first 5 people to pay in full either through Paypal; or by check made out to TBI.
    If you miss out on this round we are creating a wait list for future dates.
    *All proceeds are for the benefit of Temple Beth Israel and could be tax deductible.
