A small, friendly, haimish*, inclusive, egalitarian independent neighborhood synagogue with roots in American Conservative Judaism.
At Temple Beth Israel, Clergy and Community collaborate to create meaningful Jewish experiences.
We are located in the historic neighborhood of Highland Park in Northeast Los Angeles, and we are a member of the Jewish Federation of the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys.
Temple Beth Israel was founded in 1929, and we have held Shabbat morning services every week since then. People come from around the corner to across the city! Congregants hail from the communities of Eagle Rock, Mt. Washington, Highland Park, Pasadena, South Pasadena, Silver Lake, Atwater Village, Glassell Park, Los Feliz, Echo Park, Downtown LA and beyond.
Everyone takes part.
